Lakeside Group Change Name

EVENT:                     Friends of Lakeside Meeting

LOCATION:               Port Royal Mill Hotel, Kallangur

ISSUE DATE:             Tuesday, 11 March, 2003

Supporters of Lakeside International Raceway met for the third time on Monday night to plan their campaign to preserve motor racing at one of the country’s oldest and most loved circuits.

Representatives from various car and motorcycle clubs, including administrative groups and motor racing fans voted to form two separate groups to tackle the main issues facing the preservation of Lakeside International Raceway as a motor racing circuit.

In order to focus on finalizing Heritage Listing with the State Government, a group headed by Trevor Buetel will continue to address this issue under the banner of ‘Friends of Lakeside’.

Supporters of the legendary race track then voted Lakeside Motor Racing Enthusiasts’ as the new name for their official representative group, which will concentrate on working with the Pine Rivers Shire Council, the new owners of the motor racing circuit.

Lakeside Motor Racing Enthusiasts’ goal is to re-instate motor racing at Lakeside International Raceway as soon as possible and assist whichever body will best achieve that outcome.

Anyone interested in finding out more information is welcome to attend the next meeting of the Lakeside Motor Racing Enthusiasts is at 7:30PM on 24 March at the Port Royal Mill Hotel, 1517 Anzac Ave, Kallangur.
